United Bank
Online Banking New Enhanced Security Features:
New security and how it
will affect you
Regulators have mandated that all
institutions with internet banking products must have a multi-layered or
multi-factored authentication for their customers. United Bank itself
already has several layers of security and firewalls. This just means
that we must install another layer to our internet banking security that
will be controlled by you, the customer.
After the install is completed which will
be between November 17th and December 31st this is what will be
requested of you, our customer.
The first time you log on you will be asked to pick a picture, you will
have approximately 10,000 pictures to choose from at 10 per screen. You
can scroll through the screens until you find one that you like and will
remember. You will then be prompted to provide a small phrase or word.
When you have completed this part you will be asked to pick
approximately 5 questions and provide the answers, such as your favorite
color, your favorite pets name etc. This is all considered step one.
After step one is completed and you sign on to our internet banking web
site again using your user code you will see a screen with our bank
logo, the picture you picked and the small phrase or word. If you click
that this is correct you will then enter your password that you have
always used. If the password matches the user code the next screen will
come up and ask you one of the 5 questions you entered in step one. If
this question and answer matches the user ID and password you will be
asked if you would like to set this computer up as being the one they
would normally use. If you enter yes from this point on you will sign on
with your user ID, agree to your picture and phrase or word, enter your
password and you will go right into your normal internet banking screen.
If you wish you can also register more than one computer with your sign
on such as one at home and one at work if that is your situation. To do
this you will use your information entered in step one and finish by
letting the system know that this is a second computer location for you.
